Imports did grow slightly last year, but at the beginning of this year Poland imported less. Poland is the 4th customer for the Netherlands. According to Eurostat, Poland imported more than 600,000 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables from the Netherlands last year. This made the Netherlands the most important supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables for Poland. Spain was the second supplier with 576,000 tons and Germany the third with 318.00 tons. Last year Poland exported much less than before. This was mainly due to the small export of the main product apples. Also of the second major export product, mushrooms, it was possible to sell less abroad last year than before. For years, Belarus has been by far the most important buyer of Polish fresh fruit and vegetables. That dominant position has (because of stricter compliance with the rules?) diminished considerably.
