The prices of pork in March, allied to the rise in beef, widen the difference between proteins and favor the consumption of pork in the domestic market The competitiveness of pork against beef reached, in March 2026, the highest level of the last four years, according to data released by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea) this Thursday (9). The movement was driven by the drop in pork prices and the appreciation of beef in the period. According to the survey, the special pork carcass sold in the wholesale market of Greater São Paulo registered an average of R$ 10.06/kg in March, representing a 2.8% decrease from February. The devaluation is directly linked to the lower liquidity in the market, both for the live animal and for the meat, a scenario typical of the Lenten period, which ended in early April.
