The new regulations include the phased implementation of fishing bans in octopus fishing grounds starting from this summer, stricter requirements for fishing gear during the fishing ban periods, and new administrative responsibilities for fishermen.
The phased implementation of the fishing bans aims to maintain some octopus fishing channels during the peak summer tourism season. According to the new plan, the coastline is divided into three regions, each of which will implement its own octopus fishing ban period.
The northernmost coastline has entered the octopus fishing ban period, starting from July 17 and lasting until August 15. The central and southern waters of the country will implement the fishing bans from August 16 to September 14 and from September 15 to October 14, respectively.
