Peru's Minister of Production, Jorge Prado Palomino, participated in the inaugural Investment Forum of the FAO's Hand-in-Hand Initiative in Rome, representing the country among 20 participating nations. The forum aimed at presenting investment projects to multilateral development banks, private agri-food companies, institutional investors, and donors. The Minister highlighted Peru's agricultural and fishing sector growth and the potential for international commercial integration. He introduced two projects: a US$402,000 investment in cocoa collection and transformation centers in Jaén and San Ignacio, Cajamarca, and a US$485,753 investment in a scallop processing and freezing plant in Sechura Bay, Piura. These projects are expected to significantly boost income and create numerous jobs.
