Two teams from Embrapa Caprinos e Ovinos are conducting research in the Paraíba and Pernambuco border region to improve goat milk quality and feeding practices for goats and sheep. Funded by the AgroNordeste program, the research focuses on implementing Good Hygienic Milking Practices to control mastitis in dairy goats and developing diet guidance for small ruminants. The data collected will be used to create a control plan for goat mastitis and guide herd diets, with the potential to reduce feed costs without compromising nutritional quality. The research is part of a larger initiative by the Federal Government to benefit the rural population in the Northeast and Minas Gerais.
