At an altitude of 4200 meters above sea level, the Regional Government of Puno, through the Northern Sheep Project of the Andean Rural Development Support Program (Pradera), initiated the "Great Campaign for Estrus Synchronization in Sheep," achieving synchronization of over 600 females in the peasant community of Picchu, in the district of Santa Rosa, province of Melgar. The event took place as part of the Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination (IATF) process, which aims to genetically improve the sheep production chain and strengthen the livestock productivity of the highland communities. At the regional level, the goal is to reach 20,000 synchronizations by December of this year.
