In 2020, Ukraine's agricultural exports to the European Union fell by 10.7% to $6.7 billion due to COVID-19 restrictions and a bird flu-related ban on Ukrainian chicken, according to Mykola Pugachev. The ban impacted the quantity and value of all major export items, except for sunflower oil. The EU is the primary market for many Ukrainian agri-food products, but quotas for honey, apple and grape juices, sugar, barley groats and flour, canned food, processed starch, corn, poultry, eggs, processed cereals and starch were fully used.
