Khabarovsk Krai in Russia has seen a significant increase in salmon catch, with the highest in eight years, due to restrictions on fishing gear and areas, prioritizing conservation over industrial fishing. The number of autumn and summer chum salmon has increased, with encouraging results from artificial breeding. However, concerns about poaching and compliance with pass regime have been raised by industrialists and fishermen. The ARUK Association of Fishermen and the Amur Foundation are helping protect aquatic bioresources. The issue of sturgeon harvesting without harming the herd and the development of aquaculture is also under discussion.
