Russian fishermen have caught 4.45 million tons of fish by November 18, marking an 8.2% decrease from the same period in 2023, according to the Federal Agency for Fisheries. The decline is even more significant in the Far Eastern fishery basin, which saw an 8.2% year-on-year decrease, with the catch of several species, including cod and flounder, reaching lower numbers compared to last year. The Pacific salmon catch also decreased by 13.5% compared to 2022 and 61.3% compared to 2023. The Northern basin experienced a 3.5% decrease in catch, while the Western and Azov-Black Sea basins saw a decrease of 1.9% and 17% respectively compared to the previous year. The catch in the exclusive economic zones of foreign states and the open part of the World Ocean also experienced an 11.9% decrease from the previous year.
