In January, consumer prices for eggs and chicken meat in Russia fell by 1.8% and 2.5% respectively compared to December 2023, according to Rosstat. However, compared to the previous year, eggs were almost 1.6 times more expensive and chicken prices rose by 25.3%. To stabilize the market, the government has removed the duty on egg imports for the first half of the year, allowing up to 1.2 billion eggs to be imported. Additionally, a quota for duty-free import of 140,000 tons of poultry meat has been set for 2024.
