Russia: Before February 23, school bells will be replaced with songs by Oleg Gazmanov, Lyube and Denis Maidanov – media

In Russian schools, the ringing of bells will be temporarily replaced by songs by artists who support the war with Ukraine – the Lyube group, Oleg Gazmanov and Denis Maidanov. This was reported by the Agency publication. The songs will be played before February 23, when Russia celebrates Defender of the Fatherland Day. The day after it will mark three years since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In the documents explaining the choice of songs, Oleg Gazmanov's "Officers" is called "a deep and heartfelt understanding of the tragedy of military fate, the price of peace and duty", which "does not idealize the war", but "shows its harsh truth". The song "Motherland" by the pro-war group Lyube, which has a reputation as "Putin's favorite group", is called "an anthem of love for the Motherland" in the annotation.
