In the foreseeable future, Russia will not become a notable supplier of industrial beef to the global market, but its premium and super-premium beef is showing good results. This was stated by the head of the National Meat Association (NMA), Sergey Yushin, during the VII strategic session of the federal center "Agroexport." For instance, on the Chinese market, our beef is much more expensive than American and Australian beef. "Per kilogram, this is a very significant amount of money. Even if we hypothetically ship 10,000 tons—which is a ridiculous volume—we can earn $200-300 million," Yushin noted. He is confident that there will always be demand for premium and super-premium beef, and that Russia has significant potential for growth in shipments of this category. There are corresponding plans to increase exports. However, Yushin continued, the problem with beef cattle in Russia is the ongoing reduction in the herd, and in the coming years there are no economic prerequisites to reverse this trend.
