Russia is projected to increase its tomato and cucumber exports by the end of 2020, reaching 20,000 tons and 13,000 tons respectively, compared to 2019 figures. This growth is due to increased deliveries to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Norway, and Estonia, as well as the commissioning of new production facilities and a weaker ruble. However, the export of these vegetables faces challenges due to their perishable nature and high production costs, especially with Russia's expensive electricity prices. Some Russian producers are considering setting up greenhouse operations in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to reduce production costs and increase export volumes.
