Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono of Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is focusing on increasing exports to Russia, particularly seaweed and shrimp, to boost the country's economic growth in the fisheries sector. The trade relationship between Indonesia and Russia has been on a positive trajectory over the last five years, with seaweed being a key commodity. The Ministry is taking steps to register Indonesian companies for exporting to Russia and implementing fisheries cooperation with Russian authorities. There is potential for increasing seaweed exports to Russia, given Indonesia's abundant raw materials for carrageenan. The Blue Economy program and investment opportunities for Russian business actors in downstream fisheries were also discussed in a meeting between Trenggono and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Patrushev Dmitry Nikolayevich.
