During the self-isolation period, Russian consumers significantly increased their purchase of baked goods and baking supplies, with cookies, gingerbread, and waffles seeing a 120% increase compared to the previous year. There was also a noticeable rise in the demand for pancakes, cheesecakes, chips, crackers, yogurts, desserts, cottage cheese, cakes, pastries, frozen dough, vegetable oil, margarine, condensed milk, and flour for baking. Additionally, there was a 108% and 98% surge in the demand for frying pans and mini ovens with tabletops, respectively. A 85% increase in the demand for moonshine devices also occurred, indicating a trend towards home distillation. While there was a higher demand for foods that lead to weight gain, there was also a rise in the demand for healthier options such as dairy products, greens, salads, dietary supplements, vitamins, and diet food.
