The Gyeongnam Provincial Fisheries Resources Research Institute has sold 2,000 rows of Pacific oyster seedlings to the Oyster Stew Cooperative to prevent genetic deterioration of mother clams and stabilize natural seedlings. The seedlings were produced from fertilized eggs and artificial seeds to address issues such as decreased oyster growth, instability in natural seedlings, and increased mortality due to abnormal climate in the oyster farming industry. The institute is also working to improve the breed of wild oysters and distribute 2,000 high-quality Pacific oyster seeds each year to secure the genetic diversity of Pacific oysters.
