Sarawak is set to increase its pepper plantation area to 8,015 hectares by 2023, a 1.8% rise from 2022, making it the primary supplier of pepper in Malaysia. The Minister's office has directed the Sarawak Land Development Board to develop a strategic downstream initiative for Sarawak pepper production and establish a modern mungkus factory to boost the industry. The Office of the Minister of Coastal and Regional Development has allocated RM1.72 billion for a new project of the Coastal Aging Jalai Program to improve infrastructure.
