Saudi Arabia has lifted its partial embargo on Brazilian meat processing plants in Minas Gerais, just 10 days after imposing the restriction. The decision comes despite the embargo initially affecting Saudi's import of over 24,000 tons of Brazilian beef, making it the third largest importer of Brazilian beef behind Chile and Uruguay. The initial embargo had impacted significantly, with Brazil exporting chilled and frozen beef worth US $ 115.2 million to Saudi Arabia in the eight months leading up to August.
