Climate change, specifically the rise in water temperature, is causing a decline in fish catches, particularly affecting the reproductive abilities of fish and leading to the death of eggs, according to scientists. The Vladivostok-based Pacific Oceanology Institute (IOPAS) and the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS) have noted these changes. Additionally, there has been a new trend observing equal pink salmon catches on both the eastern and western coasts, a departure from previous years. Scientistic communities are already working on a new AI-based forecasting concept for the 2025 salmon fishing season to address these changing conditions.
