In July, Vietnam's shrimp exports experienced a significant growth of 16.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching a value of $ 388.5 million. This growth has contributed to a total export value of $ 1.9 billion in the first seven months of the year, marking a 7.7% increase over the same period in 2019. Despite the overall decline in the fisheries export value due to the Covid-19 pandemic, shrimp exports have shown resilience, with white shrimp experiencing a 12% increase in value. The US is the largest market for Vietnamese shrimp, showing consistent growth. However, the remaining months of the year bring uncertainties due to the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 disease and a potential raw shrimp shortage due to disease among cultured shrimp.
