Slight decrease in Spain of the organic production area in 2024

The area of organic production stood at 2.94 million hectares in Spain in 2024, which represents a decrease of about 47,000 hectares (-1.5%) compared to the previous year, according to data published on October 10 by the Ministry of Agriculture. Despite this, the weight of organic agriculture in the total cultivated arable land in Spain grew slightly and reached 12.31%, up from 12.03% in 2023. The Ministry highlights in its report that these nearly 3 million hectares of organic land maintain Spain in first place at the community level and in sixth place globally. The decrease compared to the year 2023 is mainly located in Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and the Valencian Community.
