Spain is a leader in agri-food innovation projects in the EU, with over 700 initiatives supported by the rural development pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). These projects have received 62 million euros in funding from the National Program for Rural Development and have a strong focus on digital transformation to make the sector more competitive and sustainable. The European co-financing rate for these projects is 80%, and Spain has the highest number of innovative projects with European funding, followed by Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
