Brazil: Stability in chicken prices between wholesale and retail since December 2019

The comparative analysis of slaughtered chicken prices between wholesale and retail, in the city of São Paulo, reveals a practically unchanged parity last October compared to December 2019, almost four years later. The average price of chilled chicken varied by approximately 37% at retail and 35% at wholesale, maintaining a difference of approximately two percentage points, practically unchanged throughout this period. Detailing the data, during Christmas 2019, the margin between wholesale and retail for chilled chicken was approximately 39%, with prices rising from R$5.37/kg to R$7.46/kg. Last October, these values were R$7.25/kg and R$10.21/kg, resulting in a margin of 41%, two percentage points higher.
