Statistics Canada (StatCan) in a report on December 4 sharply increased production forecasts for wheat, canola, and barley in the 2025/26 MY. If in September a decrease in the yield of spring wheat, durum wheat, and barley was predicted compared to 2024 (the estimate was conducted using satellite images), then in the December report, based on surveys of farmers, the forecasts for the yield of wheat, canola, and barley have been raised to record levels. Favorable conditions in Western Canada have led to a record high level of crop yields and production, while in Eastern Canada, the yield was at last year's level or lower.
