Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has received documents from the Vietnam Sugar Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuffs Association, and several sugar production and consumption enterprises in Vietnam reflecting the situation of sugar smuggling in some localities, particularly in the provinces of the Southwest and Central regions bordering Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. To strengthen the prevention of sugar smuggling, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed that the People's Committees of provinces and cities continue to direct relevant departments, sectors, functional forces, and commune-level People's Committees to strictly implement plans, directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, the Steering Committee 389, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in inspecting, controlling, preventing, and strictly handling illegal trading, transportation, and storage of smuggled sugar, of unknown origin and source; considering this a task that needs to ...
