Traders in Takoradi's Central Business District are experiencing low sales due to a surge in the prices of grains and cereals. The increase in prices is attributed to fluctuating weather conditions and increased transportation costs. Some examples of price hikes include a two and a half fold increase in the price of white beans and a 115% increase in the price of Bambara beans. The scarcity of rainfall this year has also influenced the price hike, as producers are valuing the limited harvest highly. The traders are calling on the government to intervene and reduce the cost of food commodities.
