The market for citrus brands is not particularly developed in the European Union (EU), not as much as, for example, in the United States, where there are very popular labels that capture large market shares. On the old continent, however, there are some outstanding examples of this type of branding in fruits, linked to crops such as apples or kiwis as well as to protected designations of origin or geographical indications associated with specific producing areas. In citrus fruits, as mentioned earlier, the most well-known and recognized developments in this area by consumers are related either to the offer of mandarins or oranges from prominent citrus operators, or to specific 'club' varieties. In this context, the launch about ten years ago by Eurosemillas of Tango Fruit -composed exclusively by the protected Tang Gold variety- is a rare bird in the international European citrus panorama.
