Tasmanian cherry season begins in Australia

Although Tasmania's peak cherry season is in January, growers have been investing in new varieties, many of which are grown to supply local demand before Christmas. Tasmania has become one of Australia's leading cherry producers, supplying more than half of the country's $48 million annual cherry exports. Tasmanian cherries are in high demand around the world, with more than 20 international export markets including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Thanks to direct air freight services, cherries arrive fresh at their destinations within 48 to 72 hours of being harvested, ensuring the exceptional quality of the fruit is maintained.
