Since summer, we have been eagerly or anxiously awaiting the outcome of the spring crop harvest in Hungary and its surrounding region. Unfortunately, it is even worse than expected. Specifically, the USDA expects even less corn than the ominous summer estimate, which will not be sufficient for domestic agriculture and industry... According to the latest USDA forecast, Hungary is expected to produce only 3.6 million tons of corn in the 2025/26 economic year. This is 1.1 million tons less than the previous estimate of 4.7 million tons and falls far short of domestic needs. The calculations predict serious market problems, as domestic usage has been steadily increasing in recent years and has now stabilized at around 4 million tons.
