The Kherson region in Ukraine has seen a fivefold increase in watermelon cultivation areas, reaching 1,000 hectares, despite the presence of land mines. Demining efforts have cleared 47% of the land, leaving about 270 thousand hectares mined. In addition to watermelons, the region is also planting wheat, barley, rapeseed, spring grain, leguminous crops, and industrial crops such as potatoes and vegetables, covering a total area of 153 thousand hectares, with sunflowers occupying the largest area at 52 thousand hectares.
