(Daejeon=Yonhap News) Reporter Park Ju-young = The Daejeon Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 4th that it will begin conducting agricultural product safety inspections for local food direct sales outlets starting this month. Local food direct sales outlets are permanent stores where regional farmers sell their produce directly to consumers, and as sales continue to grow, the need for safety management is also increasing. The institute plans to conduct intensive monitoring for 429 types of residual pesticides on agricultural products sold at local food direct sales outlets in the city, and will also add heavy metal inspections to strengthen management. Agricultural products found to be non-compliant in the inspection results will be entered into the 'Inadequate Food Emergency Notification System' of the Food and Drug Safety Ministry and reported to the relevant authorities for prompt recall and disposal.
