The European Union (EU) is experiencing its lowest sunflower yield in 12 years, expected to decrease by 20% to 1.67 tons per hectare, resulting in a 17% reduction in production to 8.1 million tons. This is due to unfavorable weather conditions during the growing season. Despite a 4% increase in sowing area to 4.9 million hectares, Romania, the main growing region, expects a harvest of only 1.2 million tons, down from 2 million tons last year. Germany and France also see decreased yields due to long rains.
