The European Commission proposes a phased elimination of biofuels from palm and soy oil by 2030.

The European Commission has initiated a public consultation on a draft amendment to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/807, which provides for a gradual phase-out of the use of biofuels produced from palm and soy oil by 2030. According to the proposal, after this date, companies subject to EU requirements for the use of renewable energy will not be able to count such biofuels towards their quotas. The document provides for a phased reduction in the proportion of biofuels from these types of raw materials that can be counted in energy consumption: to 71.4% in 2025, 42.8% in 2027, and 14.3% in 2029. Starting from 2030, the only vegetable oil from cultivated raw materials that will remain acceptable for meeting quotas may be rapeseed oil.
