Argentina has exported 22 thousand kilos of fresh oranges to Guatemala, marking the first shipment of Argentine oranges to the Central American country. The export was certified by the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), a agency responsible for ensuring the health of citrus fruits throughout the production chain and certifying that the required phytosanitary conditions are met. Guatemala communicated its phytosanitary requirements for fresh citrus fruit from Argentina, allowing for this first shipment from the Argentine northeast. In 2024, Senasa has certified the export of 58,000 tons of fresh oranges, with a significant portion going to South American countries.
