For the first nine months of 2020, Uzbekistan has successfully exported peppers, including hot peppers, to 22 countries, generating revenue of $7.4 million. This represents a significant increase in export reach, with five additional countries joining the list from the previous year. The primary consumers include Kazakhstan, Russia, the USA, and Germany, with Kazakhstan alone accounting for $2.3 million of the exports. The Samarkand region was the largest contributor to the pepper export, accounting for 24.5% of the total. Uzbekistan began mass producing bitter pepper in 2018, planting across several regions, and has found a profitable market for its peppers that meet international standards, thanks to their higher bitterness compared to local varieties.
