Russia: The government has temporarily banned the export of durum wheat

The Russian Government has introduced a temporary restriction on the export of durum wheat from the country. The corresponding order, published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers, was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The message clarifies that such a measure is aimed at ensuring food security in relation to this type of grain and products made from it, as well as maintaining stable prices for them on the domestic market. It comes into force from the moment the document is published and will be valid until May 31 of the next year. Previously, a proposal to introduce such a ban was made last month by the Ministry of Agriculture. There, the need for these measures was explained by the shortage of this crop on the world market and the abnormal demand for it abroad.
