The price of black pepper in the domestic market of Vietnam increased by 2.0 to 2.7% compared to August 30, 2021, with the highest price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The price of white pepper also increased sharply compared to the same period in 2020. This increase is in line with the global trend, as export prices in Brazil and Indonesia have also risen. The Import-Export Department forecasts that world pepper prices will continue to increase due to increasing demand and decreased supplies caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Vietnam's pepper exports in August 2021 increased by 1.9% in volume and 53.5% in value compared to August 2020, with the United States and the United Arab Emirates being its largest pepper export markets.
