The INPULSE Operational Group (Innovating to use legumes in animal feed) works to reconnect the animal feed chain in Spain, promoting the cultivation of legumes and thus reducing the external dependence on protein for our livestock feed. The current context opens up a great opportunity to try to strengthen the supply chain of legumes produced in our country. The constant increase in commercial tensions, increased by the pandemic, and the greater volatility of agricultural raw materials, subject to greater global demand and a crisis of supply due to the effects of climate change, as well as the production deficit of legumes in Spain, make it necessary to diversify supply sources, highly dependent on imports, particularly soybeans.
