The Ministry of Agriculture in Russia is ready to support manufacturers of alternative meat products, such as vegetable meat, for their production and export. However, there is currently no demand for such products in Russia, according to Deputy Minister Oksana Lut. She also mentioned that there is no TN VED code for vegetable meat in Russia yet. Lut suggested that Russia could grow such products for export to countries that require alternative food. A state program has also been approved to lease agricultural land for growing raw materials for vegetable meat. McKinsey & Company estimates that about 60% of traditional food can be produced using biotechnologies, with genetically engineered products and plant-based protein products showing the most growth in the future.
