The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is reducing the import volume of dried demineralized whey, used in the production of powdered infant formula milk, from 3.361 thousand tons to 1.5 thousand tons from sanctioned countries such as Belarus, Argentina, and Uruguay. This move, aimed at mitigating reliance on these countries and reducing risks, does not pose significant risks to the industry, according to the National Union of Milk Producers. In 2022, Russia's dry whey production increased by 7%, with the ability to produce D-90 whey now spread across several companies.
