The European Union and the Republic of Seychelles have given the green light to the new protocol for the implementation of the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement for the period 2026-2030, concluding a negotiation process that began last June. The entry into force of the new protocol is expected after the summer. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, values the agreement, signed on April 1, which is "key for the national tuna fleet" that operates in the Indian Ocean and accounts for more than a fifth of total Spanish fishing catches (21%).
