The Chungbuk Garlic Research Institute is launching the distribution of a new garlic variety called "Tongtong." The Garlic Research Institute recently signed a general implementation contract with the Cheongju Agricultural Technology Center and the Eungpoeng Agricultural Technology Center. The "Tongtong" garlic is characterized by having 4-6 cloves, large bulbs (over 15g each), and producing about 40% more outer garlic than regular garlic. Since registering the variety protection rights in 2021, it has been attracting attention from both farmers and consumers. The commercial outer garlic has a uniform shape, a bright color, and easily peelable skin, making it highly preferred by housewives. Additionally, it can be used for various processed products such as black garlic, roasted garlic, and pickled garlic, making it excellent for processing and competitive as a luxury gift.
