Agro-food cooperatives of Spain have reduced this Tuesday the expected production of olive oil to 1.3 million tons for the 2025-2026 campaign due to lack of rainfall and high temperatures. In a statement, the cooperatives have warned that, if the drought situation persists, the harvest will be below the estimate by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1.37 million tons). They have recalled that in recent campaigns, the lack of autumn rainfall has been a constant and has affected dryland olive groves, which depend entirely on weather conditions and represent 67.8% of the total olive grove area in Spain.
