The Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV), which has previously been detected in Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, and India, has now been identified in foil zucchini stocks in France's Occitan and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur regions. The virus affects zucchini, cucumber, and melon stocks and is spread by the tobacco moth (Bemisia tabaci). In France, the virus has been found in four zucchini plots, all in seed farms and not yet ready for retail sale. Strict hygiene measures are being taken in accordance with EU standards to prevent the virus's spread, and the infected herd is being destroyed. So far, the virus has not been detected in Hungary, but a related species has been found in Hungarian cucumbers and tomatoes.
