In Hungary, the agricultural ministry has seen substantial claims for production-related subsidies for grain protein crops, with over 111,000 hectares being soybeans. The ministry, under István Nagy, is working towards reducing import dependency for protein feed and creating a GMO-free feed base by increasing the cultivation of non-GMO protein crops. To support this, there is a form of production-linked support for cereal protein crops worth 15.9 million euros annually, in addition to basic support. The KAP Strategic Plan will continue to receive priority resources for adding value to agricultural products and developing the processing industry. The ministry has announced two tenders totaling HUF 200 billion for food industry developments, supporting both smaller and larger-scale projects.
