“Defending the European tomato is defending Europe.” With these words, the manifesto presented in Berlin by European tomato producers kicks off, within the framework of Fruit Logistica 2026, as the conclusion of a joint declaration aimed at demanding from the European Union a trade policy that is "fair, coherent, and aligned with the values of the community project." The initiative, under the title We ‘Tomato’ Europe, Don’t Betray EU Tomato, is driven by Spanish tomato producers through the Spanish Federation of Associations of Fruit, Vegetable, Flower, and Live Plant Producers-Exporters (Fepex), with the support of horticultural organizations from France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Poland.
