The article highlights the challenges faced in implementing mandatory seed certification for horticultural seeds in Indonesia, with only four Standardization of Identity (SNI) for tomato, chili, potato, and shallot seeds. Other challenges include the limited number of Product Certification Agencies and the inability of all horti seed producers to become Independent Certification System Institutions. Despite these challenges, the government's requirement for horticultural seed certification is expected to stimulate growth in the seed industry. The article also suggests that small companies can improve their classification and certification facilities to qualify for certification and encourages collaboration among seed producers with limited capacity.
