The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) is encouraging large investors to partner with small-scale avocado farmers to boost the country's avocado production, which is currently the second highest in Africa. This initiative aims to facilitate joint ventures and improve logistics until the fruit reaches consumers. The government is also planning to release a guide on investment opportunities in the southern highlands region, with a goal to expand Mbeya as an economic hub for both large and small investors. The plan includes providing small-scale farmers with access to domestic and international markets, as well as promoting the use of simple technology and integrating them into the value chain. Farmers are also encouraged to form unions to improve their access to modern technology and education in avocado cultivation.
