Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı emphasized the critical role of artificial insemination and domestic semen in boosting livestock productivity as part of Turkey's 2024-2028 livestock strategy. He highlighted TİGEM's significant contribution, particularly through the Sultansuyu Agricultural Enterprise Sperm Production Center, which produces 38% of Turkey's frozen bull semen. The center aims to fulfill all domestic semen needs by 2026 and has already made notable exports to Azerbaijan. Yumaklı underscored the center's impact on genetic diversity, animal breeding, and Turkey's agricultural competitiveness, with plans to increase annual semen production to 1.5 million doses.
