Togo is conducting a feasibility study to develop a value chain for cotton by-products as a means to diversify and professionalize its agricultural sector. The study, which involves collaboration with the FAO, UNCTAD, and local stakeholders, aims to evaluate the potential of utilizing secondary products derived from cotton production for various applications. This initiative is part of a project focused on transferring technology related to cotton by-products, funded by the Enhanced Integrated Framework and implemented by UNCTAD. Despite facing challenges in recent years, Togo's cotton sector is expected to recover, with an anticipated output of 135,000 tons in 2022.
